King Abdullah Oncology and Liver Diseases Center
The King Abdullah Oncology and Liver Diseases Center (KACO&LD) at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh was opened on April 11, 2017. This center is the largest specialized center of its kind in the region and represents a significant expansion. The King Faisal Specialized Hospital in Riyadh has smart rooms with 300 beds, a 96-bed infusion center (chemical and biological treatment) and 8 operating rooms equipped with the latest special medical technology, as well as other medical support services. It is equipped with services such as radiology, pharmacy and laboratory, which will allow the hospital to double the number of patients admitted and treated in the field of oncology and liver diseases. KACO&LD's intelligent technologies will provide a new and improved patient experience and at the same time provide healthcare providers with access to the latest equipment and an improved working environment.
Transplant Programs and Achievements
The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center will continue to strive to become one of the regional leaders in healthcare. Organ transplantation programs in this institution are getting stronger day by day and continue to be built on past achievements. We are very proud of our achievements in the field of transplantation, especially compared to the world's leading transplant centers in the UK and the USA. King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center ranked 1st in the field of Pediatric Liver and Kidney Transplantation (<18 years old) compared to centers in the UK and USA in 2016. took place. Academic and Educational Affairs
The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center has been providing outstanding and progressive educational activities as well as advanced audio-visual services for more than 30 years. in 2004, this institution became the first school accredited in the region by the American Academy of Continuing Education (AACME). Currently, 22 specialty training programs and 66 minor specialty scholarship programs are offered. In addition, hundreds of auxiliary medical personnel and managers are offered opportunities to develop their professional careers. From 2005 to June 2017, 376 medical and 613 non-medical scholarships were awarded. Scholarship winners study in a wide variety of places, including North America, Europe and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the high level of education they receive is reflected in the fact that more than 93% of scholarship recipients are hired for positions within the organization.
Accreditation and Recognition
KFSH&RC-Riyadh is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) and is proud to be one of the six hospitals outside the United States that have earned Magnet Hospital status awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Earning the Magnet Hospital title is the highest and most prestigious honor a hospital can receive in terms of excellence in nursing and quality patient care. In addition, KFSH&RC-Riyadh has become the first hospital outside North America to receive Stage 7 HIMSS Electronic Medical Records, the highest level of using Electronic Health Records. As the leading healthcare provider in the region, we take great pride in providing a full range of healthcare services, including Organ Transplantation, Cardiac Services, Medical Genetics, Neuroscience, Oncology and Pediatric Hematology Oncology.
Research and Innovation
Basic and translational research is a central component of our vision to become a world-leading healthcare institution, and KFSH&RC-Riyadh is very proud to be the country's representative member and contributor to the International Cancer Genome consortium. The Research Center has a solid and thriving scientific environment and is one of the leading centers of the Saudi Human Genome Program supported by the King Abdulaziz City of Science and Technology. In addition, it is recognized as one of the largest contributors to molecular diagnostics and radiation medicine in the region.
